PARO >THIMPHU (APPROX 51 KM/1.5 HRS)
  • The most breathtaking mountain flights you will ever take in your life. The world's tallest peaks may be seen when flying into the hot Indian plains from the left side of the aircraft window. If the weather is clear, your pilot will utter the names of the peaks. As the plane descends into the high mountains, you won't see any cities or airports but will instead be able to take in the beauty of the Paro Valley as it approaches, the alpine woods, and the little monasteries, temples, and farmhouses. You will have a view of Paro's lush valley, the Paro Dzong, and the Paro Chu (river) before the aircraft sets down on the runway.

THIMPHU SIGHTSEEING >

THIMPHU >PUNAKHA VIA DOCHULA PASS (APPROX 85 KM/2 HRS 30 MINUTES)

PUNAKHA > GANGTEY VALLEY EXCURSION
  • Today, go to the lovely Gangtey Valley through the strategically placed Wangdiphodrang Dzong, which is perched on a ridge 4,430 feet above sea level and offers a view of the country's highway that branches to the east and south. The black-necked crane (Grus Nigricllis), an endangered species, winters in the Gangtey Valley, one of Bhutan's most picturesque open valleys. The travel continues to this valley from Tibet in the middle of November. With their intellect, poise, social skills, beauty, and independence, these cranes have grabbed people's imagination for millennia and inspired numerous stories, legends, folktales, and songs. The birds take off from their summer residence in Tibet and China and fly back across the Himalayas. The little Gangtey town is dominated by the Gangtey monastery, which has a golden roof.

  • Enjoy Paro sightseeing today after breakfast and stop by the National Museum and Paro Dzong. Drive to the Paro Taktsang, one of the most well-known spiritual heritage sites, later.
